Apr. 19th, 2004 07:01 amYou're supposed to just take the first line and run with it.
In the graveyard of perfection the dancers
stumble and fall against expectations, where
elegance, style, grace tumble with fire-touched,
unexpected leaves--
Merde! Terrible. I'm sorry I put you through that.
It's just that I had said offhandedly that I didn't read enough poetry. I don't. when it comes to poetry I'm pretty much Miss Woefully Ignorant. I'm a complete whackjob for edward estlin, because his work can be such an eyekick - I could never come up with a line like
thy unimaginable
wings,where dwells the breath
of all persisting stars
like DAMN. too good. so good, really.
so i need to read more po-tree. maybe some of that artful picking out words will carry on, and help me get my prose out of its workmanlike doldrums.
