I caught notice of [livejournal.com profile] queenoftheskies's answers for this community, [livejournal.com profile] writers_five and thought, hey, that looks like fun. and so I have joined.

except they want participants to post the answers in their own LJs.

erk. well it's my damn Lj, and you people who come here expecting to be entertained can just wait for something that's actually entertaining. SO THERE!

From 03.28's questions:

1 - What is your character's favorite color? What does own anything that color?

I've never considered a "favorite" colour. I don't really have one, either, and perhaps that's why. I mean, I like green. but I also like purple and brown. never really considered it important. sorry. okay. arbitrarily, and from this moment henceforth, it is scarlet.

oh wait, possessions that are scarlet?

well. there's his own apartment above the shop. and it's scarlet like a bordello, baby. yeah, that's it. well maybe not actually. but the bed is. garishly red. oh yeah.

2 - Your character wants to read a book or rent a movie - what would he/she choose?

He's probably going to choose "Dame Patricia: The Extraordinary Adventures" because those were childhood favorites of his. he still has some of the original pulp pamphlets that contained one incredibly cramped chapter at a time, and he stole them from the playrooms of wealthier children in order to complete his first collection. Now he has a hardbound omnibus of the whole serial.

The Tales of Dame Patricia began with a girl who washed up to shore in a brocade set of bodies, embroidered gown, and a ruby medallion, with amnesia. it was assumed that she was a surviving noble from a marine tragedy, but is later revealed to be a ship brat who had been playing in the cargo hold when attacked by pirates. But Dame Patricia traveled to the luxurious, barbaric north in Princess Patricia and the Ransom Attempt, foiled a plot to incite a war between the empire and one of its protectorate states in Princess Patricia and the Purloined Pearl, exposed a terrible conspiracy of illegal sorcery in Princess Patricia and the Going Away College, faced social ruin when her true origins were surprising revealed in Princess Patricia and the Kidnapped Duke, and embarked on her very last adventure with her children in Dame Patricia and the Treasure of Orchid Island. This last book was meant to springboard her children into further adventures, but the market for half-tin serials was flooded by this time.

3 - Does your character have any siblings? Do they get along?

Only child - so far as he knows. (dumdum DUMMMM!)

4 - Has your character ever had a hangover? How did it happen?

yes.

by drinking too much.

5 - What is your character's main mode of transportation?

walking, and the occasional street train ride.

from 4.4.:

1. Does your protagonist have a hobby?

well, he doesn't have a hobby, actually. any interest that he picks up ends up being another income stream. but if making a little money off things that interests you counts, then hobbies would include short run book printing (and occasionally counterfeiting) and collecting small handmade crafts, particularly porcelain hot mead cups (which he sells.)

The industrialization of his city has brought prosperity, but it has sacrificed quality and beauty as its price.

2. Does your protagonist have a best friend or a confidant of sorts, someone he/she can turn to for advice or just to talk through a tough time?

not really. not anybody he thinks of like that. he's not used to being able to go to other people for help. he never thinks, "oh, this random thing about my life sucks. I will go to this one person to whom I confide everything and pour out the whole story, and I will walk away with valuable advice and assistance in furthering my goals/solving my problems."

That does not mean that people assume he doesn't need any help. both his employee and his favorite prostitute railroad into accepting their help whether he asks for it or not, because he is being an idiot.

3. Does your character have a quirk not dictated by the plot?

He likes birds.

4. Does your protagonist like their job?

well, in that he is his own boss and he's making a mostly honest living these days, yes.

but man, making that big score that would put him on easy street?

That would be better.

5. Where does your protagonist go when they're down and out? (i.e. a favorite dive bar, a friend's house, a cave in the mountains)

local city parks and public greenspaces, to count birds.
