Fandom Wank of the day
Jun. 22nd, 2006 11:08 am"She said the most vile racist things imaginable, all interspersed with her love for Jesus and Gryffindor Tower."
The Ms. Scribe Story made my list of scandalsheet reading of the day.
I wonder exactly what the DSM-IV diagnosis is for this particular sort of behaviour. I'm think it's an Axis II personality disorder, but I don't know if it's Histronic or Narcissistic or something else entirely.
But! she achieved fame with sockpuppets! I guess that's worth it, hey?
No, I should not be so cruel. just a little jog to the right here and a tiny nudge to the left there and I can see exactly how "I want people to read my stories" can fly to such attention seeking extremes. I've done some weird shit in the name of getting external validation for my work - lucky for ME, I got it and fairly easily in the example that's coming most to mind. I wanted to know if complete strangers could like what I wrote.
guess what? they do. and bless every darned one of them for saying the same thing my friends do, so I can tell my internal editor and resident toxic self talk facilitator to fuck off with that "they only say they like it because they don't want to hurt your feelings" stuff.
but also lucky for me, that's enough. also lucky for me, I didn't decide that what I really needed to be valid was to be the most famous evah.
okay, back to the scandal. (readreadread)
